Company failures push higher

A jump in the August level of construction companies collapsing has raised company insolvencies to a modern high.

There were 273 construction companies put into administration in August 2025. A year later in the same month, there were 815. And that was the most in any month for this sector since this data series started in 2022.

This rise represented +83% of the overall rise which reached 1744 in August 2026, counting the first time a company enters external administration or has a controller appointed.
