Here are the changes the main banks have made to retail interest rates on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, so far.
For home loans:
Commbank is reducing some of its home loan account fees. It is reducing its offset fees to zero from $10/month. And it is also setting fees for its Digi home loans at zero. It is halving its monthly fees for its Simple home loan product from $20 to $10/month.
Meanwhile Newcastle Permanent Building Society has withdrawn its "Real Options" product from sale to new clients. All its other "Real" products are unaffected at this time.
For savings accounts:
No changes to note today.
For term deposits:
Macbank has raised a number of term deposit rates for both its 'Digital' and 'Classic' TD products today. Their 3 month rate is up +5 bps to 5.05%, its six month rate is up +10 bps to 5.15%. Its nine month rate is up ++10 bps too, now at 5.20%. And its one year term deposit rate is now 5.30%, an increase of +15 bps. These changes restore their market-leading status among the largest banks.
