Today's changes to interest rates

Here are the changes the main banks have made to retail interest rates on Friday, September 4, 2026, so far.

For home loans:

Teachers Mutual Bank has reduced certain variable rates for some LVR levels by between -5 and -10 bps for their 'Your Way' and 'Your Way Plus' plans. These reductions are quite limited and only for the lowest LVR options and only for P&I loans.

Teachers Mutual Bank covers brands such as Australian Mutual Bank, Firefighters Mutual, Health Professionals Bank, and Unibank.

For savings accounts:

None to note today.

For term deposits:

ANZ has reduced its 5 month TD rate from 3.55% to 3.45%, reduced its six month rate from 5.10% to 3.50%. and it's one year and 18 month rates from 5.25% to 5.15%.

But it has raised its seven month TD rate from 3.55% to 5.00%. The net result is a lowering of rates overall.
