Today's changes to interest rates

Here are the changes the main banks have made to retail interest rates on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, so far.

For home loans:

No changes to report today.

For savings accounts:

Bank of Queensland has brough back its welcome rate for its Simple Saver account. That means you can earn up to 5.35% for 4 months for balances to $5 mln. After the 4 months, it reverts to 4.80%.

For term deposits:

Bank Australia and cousin Qudos Bank now offer 5.40% for a one year term deposit, a rise by both of +5 bps. And a market-leading rate.
