Today's changes to interest rates

Here are the changes the main banks have made to retail interest rates on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, so far.

For home loans:

No changes to report today.

For savings accounts:

Macquarie Bank has withdrawn their 'welcome rates' for their savings accounts. That leaves them with Standard rates, although these are good, currently at 5.00% for balances up to $2 mln. Readers should also note that Macbank plans to introduce tiered rates for their savings accounts, but these won't start until November 1, 2026.

For term deposits:

Bank Australia (and cousin Qudos Bank) have both raised their one year term deposit rate to 5.50%, the new market-leading level for this term.
