Today's changes to interest rates

Here are the changes the main banks have made to retail interest rates on Friday, September 18, 2026, so far.

For home loans:

No changes to report today. Update: Bank Australia and Qudos Bank have now both raised all their fixed rates by +40 bps across all terms and all loan types. Meanwhile Westpac has also raised all their fixed rates by between +30 bps and +40 bps for almost all products and terms (with the exception of some very high LVR options).

For savings accounts:

None here either.

For term deposits:

Commbank has released its latest 'special offer' and it is very good for a major bank. This is 5.30% for a one year TD, up from their previous 'special'  of 5.20%. Among the four big banks, this is the highest one year TD offer. Macbank is offering 5.35% however. The highest one year rate offer is from Bank Australia at 5.50%.

At the same time Commbank has added +10 bps to its 7 month to 1 year rate, and its two year as well.
