Here are the changes the main banks have made to retail interest rates on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, so far.
For home loans:
Macquarie has raised all its fixed rates by between +10 bps and +20 bps today.
Heritage Bank has gone one 'better' raising their fixed rates across the board also, but by between +15 bps and +30 bps.
ING has raised its variable rates for owner-occupiers with "Mortgage Simplifier" P&I loans by +5 bps where the LVR is up to 80%. No change afor LVRs above that, nor for any investor lending.
ING has also changed variable rates for their "Orange Advantage" product, some up, some down, by plus or minus 5 bps and mostly for owner-occupier P&I rates. For Investor rates, their are no changes other than for LVRs at 90%.
For savings accounts:
No changes to report today.
For term deposits:
Heritage Bank has added +10 bps to its 7 month TD rate, taking it to an impressive 5.45%. For terms 2 to 5 years, it has made a step-change, raising all of these from 4.75% to 5.25%.
