Today's changes to interest rates

Here are the changes the main banks have made to retail interest rates on Monday, September 28, 2026, so far.

For home loans:

Teachers Mutual Bank has raised fixed home loan rated by about +30 bps for fixed terms of two years and longer, but there is no change for one year rates.

For savings accounts:

No changes to report here.

For term deposits:

Bendigo Bank has cut its one year TD rate by -10 bps to 4.90%,

Bothe Greater Bank and Newcastle Permanent have raised their one year TD rate by +5 bps to 5.30%.  After having a leading one year rate for some time, this new rate from both of them isn't that special anymore.
