Today's changes to interest rates

Here are the changes the main banks have made to retail interest rates on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, so far.

For home loans:

Following continuing wholesale rate increases, ING has raised most of its fixed rates by +20 bps, although its owner-occupier P&I rates for terms 1 and 2 years fixed are 'only' up +15 bps.

Newcastle Permanent has raised its 1 year and 2 year fixed rates by +10 bps for both owner-occupiers and investors.

Greater Bank has also raised fixed rates for 1 year and 2 years by between +5 bps and +15 bps for their Ultimate, 'Great Rate' and investor fixed rates. But somewhat oddly they have decreased their 3 year, 4 year and 5 year investor rates by -10 bps.

For savings accounts:

No changes to report today.

For term deposits:

No changes here either, today.

However, stay tuned for the RBA rate review as that is sure to bring many changes tomorrow.
