Today's changes to interest rates

Here are the changes the main banks have made to retail interest rates on Friday, October 2, 2026, so far.

For home loans:

Bank of Queensland raised its variable rates by +25 bps for all products except the P&I version of its Economy Variable product which is up only +20 bps. BOQ also hike all its fixed rates and quite hard. by between +20 bps and +55 bps.

AMP Bank raised its variable rates by +25 bps across the board, but didn't change its fixed rates.

NAB won't be raising its fixed rates until October 9 (a week away). But it has raised its fixed rates by between +20 bps and 35 bps for both the P&I options for its Tailored home loans and its Choice home loans. Interestingly, in both cases, the rises for Interest Only were much less, between nothing and +10 bps.

For savings accounts:

No changes to report today.

For term deposits:

Suncorp Bank (a part of ANZ) has raised some key term deposit rates, but shifted its fighting point away from 6 months (which has fallen back to 4.80%). That means its new 7 month rate is now up to 5.20%, its nine month rate is up to 5.30%, its 1 year rate is up to 5.40% and its two year rate is up to 5.50%. These are competitive levels.
